The cause of dog cancer is a broad topic. Environmental carcinogens: excessive sun exposure, second hand smoke, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, air pollution, smog, nickel, benzidene, benzene, uranium, radon, vinyl chloride, cadmium, and asbestos. Additionally, some recent research suggests that plastic could be a canine carcinogen. So just to be safe changing out those plastic food and water bowls to glass or stainless steel would be something worth considering.

There is one other fact you should be aware of. Cancer cannot be caused by minor bumps and bruises. However, the sites of serious traumatic injuries may develop cancer, sometimes years later.

In summary, much work remains to be done in the pursuit of answers. Hopefully, sometime in the future this condition will be a thing of the past with cures being the norm rather than the exception.
